For the iPhone 4 (4g), the touchscreen (digitizer) and the LCD screen (display) come as a singular assmebly. Resultantly, if one screen is broken, then the other one has to be replaced as well.

Both the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS have seperate Touchscreen Glass and LCD components.
If the glass is cracked or the touschscreen does not repsond - but the image still displays properly - only the Touchscreen Glass requires replacement.
If there is either no display or a distorted display the LCD Screen reqiures replacement.
We are aware that there are some sellers advertising either the Touchscreen Glass and / or LCD as individual components. The iPhone 2G Digitizer and LCD as shipped from Apple is a single component. The glass or lcd are not replaceable individually.
